136L – Transmission Line Rebuild Project (19-014)

Description:

Project involved the construction of an extension of 138kV transmission line as well as the dismantling and removal of an existing section of 66kV transmission line, as described below:

  1. Dismantling of approximately 14 km of existing 103L 66kV single pole transmission line (conductor 4/0 AASC “Vancouver”) and the construction of approximately 14 km of new 138kV single pole transmission line (conductor 397.5 ACSR “IBIS”). The new line was constructed adjacent to the existing 66kV utility corridor for the first 8km. The remainder of the new line was built in a new right of way.
  2. Dismantling of approximately two runs of 600 m of existing overhead guy wire (OHGW).

Location:

Newfoundland -Transmission Line 136L is located between Newfoundland Power’s Cobbs Pond Substation (COB) and Bishop Falls Substation (BFS). The approximately 14km of line that was built traveled from Notre Dame Junction along Route 340 “Road to the Isles” towards Lewisporte Substation.
